A Look Back on 2018
2018 was quite the doozy for just about everyone. Personal limits were tested and business goals were redefined. But amongst those shifts were successes, celebrations, and growth. So without getting too sentimental, here are some of our exciting things from 2018.
Every Woman Book
The Every Woman book went from dream to concept, and then finally a real life book! Your Day by MK is a proud supporter of Women’s Empowerment in the wedding world, the business world and just every day life. The book is a collection of features from our Instagram’s #WomanWednesday series. If you’d like one, there are still a few left! I had absolutely no idea where to start when it came to publishing and producing a book, but I’m so glad I stuck my neck out and found a way.

There are so many different publications nationally and locally that help future couples plan their wedding. We are so lucky to have been published in a handful of these in 2018. “For MK Andersen, owner of Chicago-based wedding planning company Your Day by MK, The Goal Digger was her first introduction into the creative industry world. ‘A fellow lady boss told me about Jenna Kutcher as a wedding industry expert and I started to tune in.’
Andersen, who was a political science major in college, picked up basic entrepreneurial skills from the podcast. “Jenna had guests on the show that I would reach out to afterwards. I wanted to see what they were up to and try to learn from them and their practices.”

Features & Speeches
Not only was my work highlighted, but I was interviewed and given an opportunity to speak to those about the wedding and business world. As a business owner who took an unconventional path to wedding planning firm owner, these were probably my favorite projects. The speech was to a group of scholar students at Notre Dame who frequently feel overwhelmed by doing the best and going down a typical path. To ensure people they can and will succeed at anything else was such a rewarding experience.

Hands down, the best part of 2018 was working with all the amazing Chicago vendors and couples. I’ve met some of my absolute favorite humans through working with them on gorgeous weddings and I’ve cried because that best man speech was just so good. In 2018 we watched amazing couples get married and welcomed more couples to the Your Day by MK family as we gear up for 2019 and 2020.
